Culloden Battlefield (NTS).
The battle lines have been redrawn at the new Culloden
battlefield experience. With the Site restored as closely as
possible to that seen on that fateful day in April 1746,
Culloden now boasts a new visitor centre and exciting
interactive exhibition. Follow characters who were actually
involved in the battle in the exhibition, experience the true
horror of the battle in the 360 immersive film,
take a battlefield tour, and watch the daily Living History
presentations. Battlefield Visitor centre, Exhibition, Licensed
restaurant, Shop, 4 Feb to 21 Mar, daily 10-4; 21 Mar to 31 Oct,
daily 9-6; 1 Nov to 31 Dec, daily 10-4 (closed 24/25/26 Dec).

Moniack
Castle c1580 The Fraser family maintains the centuries old
tradition of winemaking from wildflowers, fruits & tree sap,
producing 9 country wines & liqueurs and 22 marmalades, sauces &
preserves. Guided tours of the fermenting room, bottling,
cellars & the kitchen. Watch an audio visual presentation on
harvesting & wine making. Open Summer Mon to Sat, 10 to

Hugh
Miller Museum & Birthplace Cottage a new museum presents
Hugh Miller’s many talents, including stonemason, geologist,
writer, editor & church reformer through a variety of
exhibitions. The 17thC thatched cottage where Hugh was born in
1802, has an audio tour which tells of its history. Open
1st April to 30th September, daily 1pm to 5pm,1st to 31st Oct,

Munlochy Clootie Well. A healing well
was dedicated to St Boniface (or Curidan). There is said to have
once been a chapel on the site. To have your wish granted, you must spill some water
three times on the ground, tie a rag torn from your clothes on a
nearby tree, make the sign of the cross and then drink from the
well. Tradition states that anyone removing a rag will succumb
to the misfortunes of the original owner. Situated on the A832,
east of Tore, beside the road.
Cromarty
Courthouse Museum Discover Cromarty’s 18th century
Courthouse, where 7 centuries of history is brought to life with
21stC technology. See the prison cells & a 1770’s trial in the
courtroom; meet the eccentric Sir Thomas Urquhart & find out
about the unspoiled 18thC seaport - from where many Highlanders’
emigration journeys started. Go on a digital audio tour of the
old lanes of Cromarty. Discounts available for NTS members and

Cromarty - Step back in
time and discover this perfect example of an 18th century
seaport. The Harbour built by John Smeaton dates back to 1784
and Forsyth House to 1772. Discover the lanes & vennels of
Fishertown, the East Church and St. Regulus graveyard. (The
local children call it the Pirates Graveyard). Many other
fascinating sites. An Audio Town Tour can be obtained from the
Cromarty Court House.
Wardlaw Mausoleum Built in 1634, this is the burial place of at least four Lovat
or Fraser clan chiefs. This commanding site overlooking the
mouth of the River Beauly was once the site of the ancient Lovat
Castle. The mausoleum was built onto the eastern gable of the
old Church of Wardlaw, dating from 1220 AD. To obtain key for
entry from Pilgrim Cottage or Rochelle, the house adjacent to
the Mausoleum.
