Wick, Highland, United Kingdom
From its Iron age history to it’s modern day position as a vital transport link for the Highlands the busy town of Wick is filled with fascinating attractions and any written description surely cannot do it justice.
Vikings first used the bay here as a harbour for their Longships and even today the harbour in the town remains a thriving place with plenty of activity. The Wick Heritage Museum will ensure you leave the area full of knowledge about Wick’s prosperous period in herring fishing as well as having plenty of insight into the lives of the people living very much on the periphery of the mainland.
The World’s shortest street also features in the town (Ebenezer Place) at around 6ft 10 inches in length. In the summer months the Town Hall clock is decorated with a stunning floral display and there are plenty of quirky shops on the high street amongst which you are likely to find at least one that tickles your fancy!
